What the heck is “wellness” anyway?

February 14, 2019

Arrrggh! Health! It’s so important and described so many different ways. But it seems now that the word on everyone’s lips is “wellness”. We all know that wellness is important but how many of us really know what it is?

The definition of wellness

There are so many definitions of wellness but the one we like is from the National Institute of Wellness in the USA. They define wellness as:

Wellness is an active process through which people become aware of, and make choices toward, a more successful existence.

Great. But what does that mean and how do we apply it? Well, ANS likes to provide answers as well as posing questions, so we’ve got these suggestions for you on how to keep flourishing.

Wellness focus

According to the University of California (surely the home of wellness), there are seven parts to wellness. The idea is that you balance physical, environmental, workplace and other aspects of your life.

We think that a good place to start is to choose one part of your life and really focus on that until you’re ready to focus on another area…

The case for physical wellness

We would advocate for physical wellness to be one of the best places to start because, as they say, health is the new wealth. We’ve found some fantastic tips to increase your wellness that are easy to implement.

Physical wellness is really about having all the energy, mobility and strength to do all the things that make you…you. One of the first things to investigate is the addition of a supplement to your diet. A good thing to look out for is that your supplement is full of high quality ingredients made in Australia and has contains phosphorus for energy.

Wellness is within reach. Take care of you.
